Royal Ascot

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, all of our sporting events have been put on hold.  Please contact us should you require further information.

Back in June 2015, for the first time in the fine history of Motive Travel, we took a band of horse racing fanatics across the world to another nation that just can’t get enough of the equine sport – Great Britain.  We had such a great time that we’ve done it every year since!

Royal Ascot is without doubt the world’s most glamorous week of racing.  It is the highlight of the UK’s sporting and social calendar and an event that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.  An unforgettable parade of tradition and pageantry, few sporting events can trace their history back over three centuries and the Royal Ascot can do just that; cementing its place among racing royalty ever since the inaugural race was held in 1711.  The Royal Ascot has never faded into obscurity as the years have passed – if anything, its popularity has boomed – some 300,000 punters entered the gates at the Royal Ascot 2019!

A Royal occasion

The Royal Ascot didn’t get its name simply for aesthetic reasons – Queen Elizabeth II has not missed the event in any one of her 67 years on the throne.  Indeed, 11 preceding monarchs have arrived at the racecourse via the Royal Procession and taking in this spectacle is something that every race-goer will want to witness.

Horse Racing History

The Royal Ascot Tour will have you experiencing not only the magnificence and pageantry of Royal Ascot, but also Newmarket, the historical home of the thoroughbred racing and breeding and residence to many of Europe’s finest trainers and gallopers.

There were countless highlights in the 2019 tour, including visits to:

  • Newmarket – a town considered the birthplace of thoroughbred horse racing and home to the National Thoroughbred Racing Museum;
  • Banstead Manor – one of the most famous stud farms in the world and home to legendary race horse, Frankel;
  • The historical city of Cambridge;
  • Dalham Hall, the operations headquarters of Darley Stud, another of the most famous stud farms in the world which is owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, ruler of Dubai.
