Get set for another AFL Grand Final with Motive Travel

If you’re a regular around these Motive Travel parts, you’ll know that the AFL is a big part of what we do. After all, our founder, George Michalczyk, has been a huge fan of Aussie Rules ever since he first watched the sport, and we’ve been arranging trips to the Grand Final for footy fanatics for pretty much as long as we can remember. There are few people in Australia that can claim to have been to as many Grand Finals as George – at the last count, he’d been to the last 40, including the 2015 edition, where Hawthorn managed to see off the West Coast Eagles to capture the flag.

In fact, last year’s competition held even greater interest for Western Australian AFL fans, because, for a short while, it looked as though the Eagles and the Fremantle Dockers would be set for a barnstorming clash in the Grand Final at the MCG. A Western Derby in Victoria beckoned but, sadly, it wasn’t to be. Even so, those from WA still had the chance to see one of their teams in the final, even if it wasn’t quite what was anticipated. So, what’s in store for the AFL Grand Final this year?

The Final Countdown

As always, the competition is throwing up some unexpected results – that’s why we love the game! At this point in the season, it’s too difficult to say who might make an appearance in the Final itself, but there is sure to be mountains of excitement along the way. At Motive Travel, we’re watching the comings and goings of this AFL season as closely as ever, and have already put together an initial package for those that want to make the trip to Melbourne this September. Read on to find out more about what Motive has planned for football fans in 2016.

We have already put together an initial package for those that want to make the trip to Melbourne this September.

A few people often get the idea that we at Motive Travel can only organise tours to the Grand Final itself, but that’s not at all true. Though, of course, the Grand Final is the showpiece event of any AFL season, the games leading up to it can be just as riveting, especially when a coveted position in the play-offs is at stake. The truth is, Motive Travel can arrange tours to practically any match on the AFL calendar, so whether you’re a die-hard Docker or passionate Port Adelaide person, we can sort something out for you. All you need to do is get in touch with us, let us know how many of you are going along and we’ll sort out the rest. Easy!

A momentous Motive moment

Of course, the Grand Final is still the place everyone wants to be. Each year, just shy of 100,000 spectators crammed their way in the Melbourne Cricket Ground or the event, and last year was no exception – nor will this one be. Even though the mighty MCG has one of the highest capacities of any Australian stadium, a ticket to the match itself remains one of the hottest sporting properties out there. Though we can arrange the flights and accommodation for you (more on that later), tickets can only purchased via the AFL event office or an authorised on-seller. However, there’s no need to worry – we can point you in the direction of one of those.

We’ve just put together the finishing touches to our AFL Grand Final 2016 airfare and accommodation packages, so be sure to take a look at our flyer to see what we have in store for footy fans. All you have to do is fill out the booking form and send it off to Katrina – she’s very experienced in handling Grand Final enquiries, so be sure to get in touch with her, or the rest of the team, if you’d like to know more.

Who’s looking forward to September?

IMPORTANT NOTE – Tickets to the AFL Grand Final match itself can only be purchased through the AFL event office or an authorised on-seller.
