Royal Ascot 2019

Back in June 2015, for the first time in the fine history of Motive Travel, we took a band of horse racing fanatics across the world to another nation that just can’t get enough of the equine sport – Great Britain.  We had such a great time that we’ve done it every year since and are now super excited to let you know that we’ll be going again in 2019!

Royal Ascot is without doubt the world’s most glamorous week of racing.  It is the highlight of the UK’s sporting and social calendar and an event that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.  An unforgettable parade of tradition and pageantry, few sporting events can trace their history back over three centuries and the Royal Ascot can do just that; cementing its place among racing royalty ever since the inaugural race was held in 1711.  The Royal Ascot has never faded into obscurity as the years have passed – if anything, its popularity has boomed – some 300,000 punters entered the gates at the Royal Ascot 2018!

A Royal occasion

The Royal Ascot didn’t get its name simply for aesthetic reasons – Queen Elizabeth II has not missed the event in any one of her 66 years on the throne.  Indeed, 11 preceding monarchs have arrived at the racecourse via the Royal Procession and taking in this spectacle is something that every race-goer will want to witness.

Horse Racing History

Escorted by Motive Travel’s own George Michalczyk and WA race broadcaster Darren McAullay, the Royal Ascot Tour will have you experiencing not only the magnificence and pageantry of Royal Ascot, but also Newmarket, the historical home of the thoroughbred racing and breeding and residence to many of Europe’s finest trainers and gallopers.

There were countless highlights in the recent 2018 tour, including private visits to the stables of leading trainers Ed Dunlop of Red Cadeaux fame and Michael Bell, one of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s private trainers. There was also a special meeting and photo opportunity with racing sensation Frankel at Juddmonte Stud, plus a guided tour of Darley’s Dalham Hall – the most prestigious thoroughbred breeding stud in England and home of global super sire Dubawi.

With Multiple Group One sprint star Redkirk Warrior there to represent Australia, the Motive Travel tour group received a surprise invitation from trainers David and Ben Hayes to witness the gelding’s last track gallop at the Newmarket track before contesting the Diamond Jubilee Stakes, where he unfortunately finished unplaced to former star Melbourne colt Merchant Navy. It was definitely a memorable morning for those who were given the chance to stand in the company of the champion trainer and his son as they put the final polish on the imposing sprinter.

A trip to nearby historic Cambridge and Sandringham Estate, the much loved country retreat of Queen Elizabeth II, provided the 2018 tour group with a unique insight into this historical home of the British Royal family.

Whether you’re an owner, trainer, breeder, punter, or just a horse racing enthusiast who enjoys a social day at the track, this is a tour that has something for everyone – a memorable tour that delivers many pleasant and unexpected surprises!

Make sure to plan well ahead and discuss your 2019 trip to Royal Ascot with George Michalczyk at Motive Travel – you’ll be very glad you did.
