More AFL than ever in 2016 with Motive Travel

If you’ve visited Perth within the last six months or so, or even had half an eye on the most recent AFL season, it can’t have failed to escape your attention that, for a fair while, it looked as though both Western Australia teams were set on a collision course for the Grand Final in Melbourne itself. For the majority of the season, both the West Coast Eagles and the Fremantle Dockers occupied the top two positions in the league, but they sadly come unstuck as the season reached its final stages.

The Dockers were the first to fall, slipping to a 15.4 (94) to 10.7 (67) defeat against Hawthorn. With the expectation of Western Australia on their shoulders, the Eagles marched to the Final in a matchup against the Hawks, but went the same way as their local rivals, crashing to a 16.11 (107) to 8.13 (61) loss that left them looking for their first Premiership since 2006.

There are dozens of games leading up to the spectacular showpiece that you can attend.

Football forever

Of course, Motive Travel were there in Melbourne to watch the action unfold. Our director, George Michalczyk, has attended 40 consecutive AFL Grand Finals, so he’s a man that knows a thing or two about the game – he used to play a bit as well, don’t you know?

The Grand Final is certainly an enormously popular spectacle – just short of 100,000 people squeezed into the Melbourne Cricket Ground for this year’s event, according to the official website. That’s impressive, but don’t you lose sight of the fact that there are dozens of games leading up to the spectacular showpiece that you can attend.

A weekend at the footy

That’s right – Motive Travel isn’t just about the big events that have everyone talking (though we do love those, too!). It’s true that we put together great packages each year for the Grand Final, but we now offer offer footy fans the chance to snap one up for any 2016 AFL game that you fancy.

The fixture list for 2016 has now been released, so we’re sure that the most dedicated of you have already eyed up a few tasty matches in the coming months. With both of the Western Australian teams licking their wounds and looking to come back stronger than ever before, the coming season is shaping up to be one of the most explosive yet.

With Motive Travel, you can attend up to four games over one weekend in Melbourne, so why not get in touch with us and see what you can put together for you?
