Royal Caribbean Ovation of the Seas

Newcomers to cruising or seasoned cruise travellers alike should cast an eye over Royal Caribbean International’s Ovation of the Seas.

Byron Horne, Cruise Product Buyer for Asia Escape Holidays, tells us it’s time to live life large and experience this amazing ship and exciting itinerary. In his words:

“Long gone are the days where cruising was purely a means of transport getting you from one exciting destination to another. On Royal Caribbean International’s Ovation of the Seas, the ship itself becomes one of the major attractions on its voyages.

The Ovation of the Seas, like her sister the Quantum of the Seas, is a smart ship. No more paperwork and long lines at check-in and key-cards are no more.  An electronic wrist band now acts as your key-card and you simply swipe it at all the various bars and shops for all your purchases. It’s all electronic, including an IQ App you can use on your smart phone or one of the many iPads scattered all around the ship. There is even a bionic bar with Robots pouring drinks and cocktails much to the delight of thirsty onlookers. Seeing is definitely believing!

Here you won’t find the usual, busy, noisy, 3 tier main dining room we have become accustomed to – that is a thing of the past. The Ovation boasts 4 main dining rooms which form part of the 10 complimentary dining venues – so you will never get bored of the same meal, let alone the same restaurant.  Each restaurant has its own theme and menu – American tonight, French tomorrow… Diet when you get home!

There is a varied choice of specialty restaurants should you wish to try something a little different including Jamie’s Italian – yes, even Jamie Oliver got in on the act with his own restaurant at sea.

The ship is large – with nearly 4900 guests, Royal Caribbean International have not compromised on space. Larger than average cabins, beautifully furnished, elegant, smart, clean lines – perfect! For those on a budget, the interior cabins boast a new innovation – a virtual balcony – an 80 inch screen with live views and sounds that those with an ocean view or balcony stateroom would enjoy.

Your days at seas will be well spent with a great variety of activities on offer.  The usuals are all there including the rock climbing wall, gym, spa, and various pools and Jacuzzis but there is so much more!

Seaplex is new and innovative. The largest indoor active space at sea is also the most revolutionary, offering a circus school, full-size basketball court and the first-ever roller rink and bumper cars at sea. Not to mention delicious bites provided by the first food truck to ever set sail and music from a floating DJ booth suspended overhead. This is going to change the way you play.

You can now even go skydiving without ever leaving the deck!  Feel what it’s like to fly, as you float on air within the safe confines of this ground-breaking simulator. It’s a whole new thrill for thrill seekers of all kinds.

Let’s not forget North Star,  an observation capsule that reaches out to nearly 100 meters when in operation giving incredible ship and sea views never experienced before.

It’s easy to see why she is an extraordinary ship.”
